9 p.m. Northwest Airlines Capt. Thrush, 2 Portland control tower
operators, and a flying instructor (Henry, Penhallegan, Brasford) saw
an object with 1 white light and 2 red lights, maneuver and hover.

July 30, 1949; Mt. Hood, Oregon (BBU 496)
At 2100 - 2130 hours, Capt. Thrush, pilot Northwest
Airlines, Hobert Henery, CAA Tower Operator, Portland Airport, H. W.
Penhailegran, Instructor pilot, and B. J. Brasford, CAA Tower
Operator, Portland Airport, observed an object maneuvering and hovering
in an area south of the Columbia River where the Bonneville Power Lines
cross the river. The object was maneuvering between 2000 and 6000 feet
at speeds from 0-210 MPH. The object appeared to drop two white flares.
The object eventually disappeared to the east. There were at least four
more witnesses.
