The 1991 UFO Chronology Created; October 15, 2008 This is currently an 8-page chronology of UFO incidents and events for 1991. Our thanks for these chronologies must go to Richard Hall (the original 1991 chronology from UFOE II), Dan Wilson (archive researcher), and Jean Waskiewicz (online NICAP DBase [NSID]. You will note the many foreign reports that we are now being able to access. Our special thanks to Dan Wilson for getting those to us. As more come in, this page will be updated. Previous chronologies (1947 to 1969) involved the expertise of two other team members; Rebecca Wise (Project Blue Book Archive) and Brad Sparks (Comprehensive Catalog of Project Blue Book Unknowns). Bob Gribble's entries are those filed with the National UFO Reporting Center in Seattle, Washington, now operated by Peter Davenport. Trace cases are now being entered with the help of Ted Phillips, Center for Physical Trace Research and retrofitted into previous chronologies as time permits. Since I was Indiana State Director (MUFON) at that time, many of our Indiana cases are listed here. Date unknown; Los Angeles, CA
This photograph was allegedly taken by one Dorothy Drudge, near the Los Angeles International Airport. She stated that it was so foggy you could hardly see. The object reportedly never made a sound, and was "gone in a heartbeat". Jan. 13, 1991; Pittsburgh, PA
U.S. Air flight crew saw a rectangular, light-reflective object that flew into clouds (Volume II, The UFO Evidence, Section III). Jan. 16, 1991; Gulf Breeze, FL
7:50 PM. A red ball of light was sighted over the Sikes
Bridge. It moved west, hovered, and then drifted in the sky for five
minutes. (Source: Bruce S. Maccabee, MUFON 1991 Conference Proceedings,
p. 249)
Jan. 16, 1991; Bettignies, France 8:00 PM. A car's headlights dimmed and the car radio
experience radio interference when a huge black, delta-shaped craft
passed by at a low altitude. The UFO rose to a higher altitude and flew
off rapidly toward the east. (Source: Lumieres dans la Nuit,
January 1997)
Jan. 19, 1991; MA
10:30 PM. A 31-year-old respiratory therapist was driving
home and observed a domed disc with a large square window emitting
white light. It hovered low (25 feet) over a tree across the street
that was only 360 feet away. Electrical interference was reported in
the form of static on the telephone. (Donald Ware, MUFON UFO Journal,
March 1992, p. 19).
Feb. 1991; Bloomington, IN 11:30 PM.. A couple driving in the Lake Monroe area witnessed a ball of light, like a "nerf ball", pass over their auto from front to back (east to west). Described as 7-8" diameter and less than 10' from them. Observation time: 1-2 minutes. (MUFON Indiana, FI Will Ott) Feb. 21, 1991; Corydon, IN 10:00 PM. There were two witnesses in this rural sighting. "Ms. M." and her girl companion described the lights as shaped like a triangle with three lights, one light on each side, and one on top with a smaller red light in the middle. She thought there may be something connecting all these lights, some sort of structure. The light followed her car, seeming to stop and hover at times, change direction, ascend up and down. As the car approached the Louisville area, the lights disappeared from view. When closest to them the object was reportedly at around 125 yards distant, and at one point 80-100' from the ground. The only sound reported was a humming sound. Duration of sighting: 25-minutes. Both girls visibly shaken. (MUFON Indiana, FIs Delehanty, Baker & Tipton). March 2, 1991; Sosnovyy Bor, Russia
7:30 PM. A fast moving UFO flew in an erratic pattern over a
nuclear power plant. It was picked up on airport radar in Leningrad
(St. Petersburg). (Source: Timothy Good, Alien Update, p. 176).
March 3, 1991; Sandy, OR
8:55 PM. A high speed white disc-shaped object made fast
turns, and ascended and descended over Sandy, Oregon. (Source: Paul
Ferrughelli, Computer Catalogue of UFO Reports, 1988-94, case 1043,
citing Skip Schultz).
March 6, 1991; Kingston, Ontario, Canada
7:58 A.M. Glowing blue-green cigar-shaped object crossed path of Flight 866 (Volume II, The UFO Evidence, Section III). March 9, 1991; south of Fortaleza, Brazil
Shortly after midnight a UFO pursued a couple named Silva in
their car on a highway south of Fortaleza, Brazil. The domed disc
emitted heat and made a humming sound. It left, returned, left again,
then returned a second time and dropped a transparent two-meter wide
ball that blew up in front of their car, only six feet away. They
believe the UFO intended to harm them. (Sources: Jerome Clark, UFO
Calendar 1999; Bob Pratt, UFO Danger Zone: Terror and Death in
Brazil--Where Next?, p. 216).
March 10, 1991; Citrus Heights, CA
10:30 PM. A 22-year-old man observed a light gray triangular
object flying at 2000-3000 feet altitude. The object was estimated to
be 200 feet in diameter, had rounded corners, and flew silently at a
speed of between 100 and 150 mph. It flew on a straight course, going
directly overhead and finally passed beyond some trees. He could see
the lightless object due to its reflection of lights from the ground.

March 18, 1991; Kunshan, China Airliner encounters ring-shaped object. April,
1991; Space Shuttle Atlantis, mission STS-37
During the mission of the Space Shuttle Atlantis "STS-37", a metallic object arrives from the top and then swings in front of the video camera (it moves to the right and to the left, up and down). In the background we can see the earth. April 2, 1991; Faribault, MN
7:00 PM. A large cylinder with many lights flew slowly over
Faribault and hovered for a short while. There were many witnesses, who
also attested to the presence of many military aircraft in the sky at
the same time. (Source: Paul Ferrughelli, Computer catalogue of UFO
reports, 1988-1994, case 1060, citing the UFO Newsclipping Service.)
April 11, 1991; Brasilia, Brazil

May 12, 1991; Camp Redondo, Brazil
7:00 PM. A fiery ball of light levitated a man off the
ground twice north of Camp Redondo in the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
He felt heat and cold and suffered an eye injury. (Source: Bob Pratt,
UFO Danger Zone, p. 2).
May 14, 1991; Lancaster, CA
11:00 PM. The witness was suddenly awakened by three 4.5
foot tall Grey humanoids, with large black slanted eyes, who began
lifting her from her bed. She began to struggle with the beings, when
she noticed a tall human in the living room dressed entirely in black
and holding a device resembling a small TV set. She broke loose from
the Greys and yelled for her husband to wake up. He did, and they now
both ran to the kitchen after hearing their dog barking in the
backyard. They then saw a man wearing a blue Air Force blue uniform
lying prone on a projecting part of their roof near a ladder. A K-9
sentry dog that appeared ready to attack their dog, was also now on the
ground below, accompanied by the three Grey humanoid beings. Overhead a
number or red lights were hovering. The witness yelled, "Do not kill my
dog!" Her next recollection was standing alone in her yard next to the
generator shack. A large craft with revolving red lights hovered above
her and a thick fog was coming out of some ports around the object. She
next remembered waking up and sitting up in her bed at 3:50 a.m. She
was later hypnotically regressed, and recalled being taken to an
underground facility, but would not elaborate about the details.

May 18, 1991; just offshore of St. Osyth, Essex, England
11:40 PM. Just offshore, three fishermen saw a saucer-shaped
object on edge, hovering low over the water. The object had six windows
along its rim and several man-like figures could be seen moving about
inside and looking out. The UFO vanished in the sky. (Source: Timothy
Good, UFO Report 1992, p. 151).
June 5, 1991; Clacton-on-Sea, England
12:10 AM. An orange fireball with a pale halo flew east to
west along the waterfront. When it shot up into a cloud the cloud
became luminescent. (Source: Timothy Good, The UFO Report 1992, p. 152).
Pilots encountered and
radar tracked reddish oval object that paced a small aircraft and
hovered above airport, E-M effects on plane (Volume II, The UFO
Evidence, Section III).
July 21, 1991; mid-MissouriJuly
7, 1991-Atlixco, Puebla, Mexico
This glowing red UFO with lights was taken by the Puebla Judicial Police after they were called out on a call from residents of an unknown object in the area. 2:00 AM. Three young girls (ages 10-12) were watching TV, and when the program concluded they went out to jump on a trampoline. They saw a white, oval-shaped light move rapidly from one side of the backyard near the tree where the "entity" was first sighted. Entity was described as small, white, and very skinny with long skinny fingers and bald, egg-shaped head. (MUJ-282) July 24, 1991; Port Crane, NY
11:35 AM. An aluminum colored domed disc, shaped like a
baseball cap without the visor, was seen by a 49-year-old housewife. It
reflected the sunlight, but then appeared to shrink to a horizontal
line that disappeared. (Source: Donald Ware, MUFON UFO Journal, March
1992, p. 17, citing R. Hamilton, field investigator, case 911101E).
July 25, 1991; Carleton, Quebec
Night. A white sphere hovered over a field. Several times a
much smaller red light emerged from the white object, descended to the
ground, drifted for awhile, ascended, and then merged back into the
large object. (Source: Timothy Good, Alien Update, p. 229).
Aug. 13, 1991; near Victoria, Entre Rios, Argentina
10:00 PM. Four men staying at a local guest house were
alerted to two maneuvering lights in the sky. One was yellow and the
other red, and they first moved up and down, then in a triangular
pattern. One of the lights then descended onto the road near the
guesthouse. Two dark human-like figures emerged from the landed object
and appeared to float above the ground moving around back and forth.
Although they were human-like, their heads were slightly larger than
normal. Suddenly the light illuminating the object turned off, and a
white bowl-shaped object could be discerned. A few of the witnesses
were not able to see the figures completely, and only saw their arms
and legs. Later that same evening a man reported that he had been
abducted, and awakened in a nearby garden as a blue beam was being
retracted into a departing UFO. (Sources: Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid
Contact Database 1991, case # 1466, citing Roberto Banchs, Cuadernos De
Ufologia, Volume 15, Number 2, 1993; Lumieres dans la Nuit, issue #
312).

Sept. 26, 1991; New Salem, IN 6:45 PM. The Stock Commissioner and two friends were traveling east on Hwy 52, approximately one mile west of New Salem. It was still daylight. Confidential witness: "I was a passenger in the right back seat in a car headed east on Hwy 52. I was looking to the south when the craft appeared." At first he thought it might be "a large plane". He was amazed "that something that big could disappear so fast. It looked like a large aircraft with no engines or fuselage. I could not detect any movement." It was described as cigar-shaped and a dull gray with four banks of four very large bright lights. Both ends of the craft were fuzzy. The cigar shape appeared to be about 20' thick and about 200' long, although the drawing by the witness (Exhibit IN) suggests more of a 15-to-l ratio. Height above ground appeared to be about 300', range about 300 yards. "We passed a group of trees which blocked my view for about two seconds in which time it disappeared." Time in view, about two seconds. The driver didn't see the object and therefore didn't fill out a Form 1. The front passenger, James Payne, said he saw 6-8 bright lights approximately 200-300' off the ground. Duration was more like 3-5 seconds and the white round lights appeared to be in a row, rather than four groups of four. Both men had good vision and both wore glasses. Any sound produced by the object would have been masked by car and air conditioner. (MUFON Indiana, FI Don Worley) Sept. 30, 1991; Las Vegas (near), NV Nellis Video. Not available. Nov. 6, 1991; Beit She'an, Israel
3:30 AM. A shiny crescent-shaped UFO was chased by a taxi
and police east from the city. It flew at an estimated 600 meters
altitude, hovered, maneuvered, and made turns around itself. It finally
disappeared at dawn around six a.m. (Source: Timothy Good, Alien
Update, p. 239).
Nov. 8, 1991, Elkland, MO Evening. A man had a close encounter with a much more complex UFO. While out trying to photograph a spectacular display of the northern lights, itself a rare sight this far south, he sighted an object which he described as the familiar "two saucers together rim to rim" at not much more than treetop height above the ground. The main body of the object, which he estimated to be about fifty feet in diameter and maybe twenty feet thick at the center, was dark and did not appear to reflect any light at all. Its most striking feature was what looked like a row of windows lit from the inside which circled the object. Although showing the shape of the object more clearly, the lights were too bright to allow a comfortable view of the interior. The UFO was gliding along in level flight at slow speed when first sighted, but quickly began to gain both altitude and speed. As it rose into the air the change in perspective brought into view three dim red lights in a triangular pattern on the underside. It was at this point that the startled witness remembered he was holding a camera. The single photograph he managed to take before the object climbed out of sight is nothing spectacular, probably due to the dim nature of the red lights, but it does serve to offer evidence that something out of the ordinary was there. (Amateur UFOlogy News, 1,3) Nov. 13, 1991; Douglas, GA
5:30 PM. A couple driving a car saw a silver,
triangular-shaped UFO with rounded corners. It emitted an arc of white
light. A second identical triangle then appeared, and the two UFOs
circled a nearby lake. The UFOs moved erratically, sometimes at a slow
speed, sometimes very fast. (Source: MUFON Investigation Files
Database, case 930404J.)
Nov. 15, 1991; Marshall, AS
On this night a group of coon hunters saw a tremendously
large boomerang-shaped UFO, the size of three football fields. It had
bright pulsating white lights. Three large red lights separated from
the UFO and flew away. The men fled in fear.

Dec. 1, 1991; Laboulaye, Argentina
Late night. Three young farm hands were playing cards in a
small shack on a farm when a bright light outside caught their
attention. Frightened, they looked out and saw a huge luminous object
resting nearby on the ground. About 15 small humanoid figures were
walking about near the object. The beings wore helmets with lights on
them, resembling those worn by miners, and seemed to be wearing small
capes on their shoulders. The UFO and the short humanoids stayed in the
area most of the night. The next morning a circular ground trace was
found at the landing site. A dog reacted during the incident. (Source:

Carlos Iurchuk, FAO).
Dec. 6, 1991; Teynham, Kent, England
9:45 PM. A large oval UFO was observed by the Yates family a
few dozen feet above the Teynham Church. Something shot off from it,
then lots of different beams of light started flashing. The object had
an oval on top with red, yellow, green and blue lights on the bottom.

Dec. 26, 1991; Bekes, Hungary
The 21-year-old witness had heard a very loud voice in his
room on the night of December 4, 2001, telling him "you will meet us
soon." This was repeated for 11 nights in a row. He could not locate
the source of the voice. On this night he was returning home from the
movies when he caught sight of a hovering shiny gray disc-shaped object
over the courtyard. He was suddenly compelled to walk under the object
and a beam of light descended on him from the bottom of the craft, and
he was apparently brought up inside the beam. He found himself inside
the object looking out a window at his courtyard. Two
four-and-a-half-foot tall beings stood in the room with him. The beings
were human-like except they had large heads and eyes. They had long
arms ending in hands with three digits. One of the beings communicated
with the witness telling him that they had been watching him for three
years and that they travel via inter-dimensional portals. A beam of
green light hit the witness on his forehead and after that he only had
vague memories of traveling to a moon-like planet and of seeing
pyramids from above. He later found himself in his courtyard suffering
from a terrible headache and feeling dizzy. (Sources: Lumieres dans la
Nuit, issue 326; Albert S. Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1991,

Dec. 27, 1991; Longwy, France
Evening. Five young witnesses watched a large silvery sphere
land in a field very close to them. Two human looking figures with blue
eyes emerged from the sphere. They wore gray coveralls, and one figure
was carrying something resembling a transparent cylindrical canister.
That humanoid proceeded to walk around the object and collect various
plant and soil samples, placing them inside the canister. After awhile
the humanoids re-entered the sphere, which then rose up silently and
shot away at high speed. Ground traces were found. (Source: Albert S.
Rosales, Humanoid Contact Database 1991, citing Ecol # 91, Denys

Dec. 28, 1991; London, Ontario, Canada
12:40 AM. There was both airborne radar contact and visual
confirmation of an echelon formation of three objects that flew over
London, Ontario, Canada. The case is rated as a high reliability
unknown by the Canadian UFO Survey group. (Source: Richard F. Haines,
